Qvevri Wine

Georgian 8000 years traditional wine-making method still using until now . Georgia is the oldest wine-making country in the world . Qvevri wine making is  unique and practiced throughout in Georgia . The Qvevri is an egg-shaped earthenware vessel used for making , aging and storing the wine . Knowledge and experience  of Qvevri manufacture and wine making are passed down by families , neighbors , friends and relatives . Children learn how to tend the vines , press grapes , ferment wine , collect clay and make the fire Qvevri  through observing elders . The wine making process involves pressing the grapes and then pouring the juice , grapes skins , stalks and pips into the Qvevri , which is sealed and buried in the ground so that the wine can ferment  in a stable temperature and humidity  . The wine showing not only the fruity aromas and also with mineral  taste .  Add much more structure and complexity to the wine .   Georgian Qvevri winemaking method was recognized and listed in Intangible Cultural Heritage Monuments by United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) .
